Today’s guest blog is written by Michael Fullan, an international expert on leadership and school systems.

Five years ago, we started to work with education systems on “deep learning.” We did this partly because increasing numbers of students were bored with regular schooling—as many as 70 percent were disengaged.

However, we also found that the world was becoming increasingly troubled because of climate change,

New Pedagogies for Deep Learning—or NPDL—believes every student deserves to learn deeply and to support whole systems to transform learning—schools, provinces, states and countries to want to take action, make a positive impact and grasp opportunities that will lead to success in life.

NPDL works alongside educators and governments to change the role of teachers to that of activators of learning who design learning experiences that build on learner strengths and needs, create new knowledge using real-life problem solving and help all students identify their talents, purpose and passion.
